Job.

I got a telesales job. I didn't want to tell anyone before today, because I didn't want to cause bad luck - you know, you tell people that something is going to happen, and then it doesn't.

Today was my first day. Yes, it's telesales. No, it's not my job of choice. No, the pay isn't exceptional.

HOWEVER.

It pays the rent. It pays my insurance and Social Security payments. And a little left over. Which means I don't have to dip into my account for the monthly rent.

I spoke with the supervisor today and suggested something else I can do for the company, in addition to telesales. He was agreeable to it, and we're going to discuss it with a higher-up in the company pretty soon.

So, rather than sit around and feel sorry for myself because I'm not doing the work I want to do, I'm working on creating a position where I AM doing at least SOME of the work I want to do. Who knows? Maybe I can carve my own niche at the company, make a name for myself, and increase my income!

This doesn't even take into account the fact that I can sell my homemade lip balm at a Thai massage place. I know the owner.

The raffle. Yes, it's still on. Yes, I'm still committed to getting back home as fast as I can. So, by all means, tell all your friends about it! Tell even people you don't know!

I sold ten more tickets today. Let's keep the ball rolling!

It is! The winters here are horrible, dry and cold, and I was low on funds, so rather than buy one tube after another of petroleum-based grossness, I just made my own; I had most of the ingredients anyway.

So, this may turn into something big!

I don't know if they ship outside the US, but specialty bottle seems to have some pretty decent prices for bulk orders.

A few days in - how's the new employment?

Great people, and surprisingly enough, I've had very few people who didn't react well to being called. Fewer than five, actually.

We have frequent breaks, and the office is located in a good eating area.

Not much else to say, really. I'm grateful for it, it's paying my rent, and yesterday I went off unemployment (not that they were willing to give me much of anything) AND had my business license renewed, so now, in addition to the everyday job, I can work freelance again! I have some side work to do, fortunately, and some new prospects for side work, so things are pretty busy.

FINALLY!

However - the raffle IS still on; ten more tickets sold yesterday.
