Weird cats

Our Russian Blue Oscar is downright weird. Today I took them outside to run around for a while (they're both indoor, but we take them outside and let them run around the backyard supervised) and discovered that Oscar has this weird game he'll play.

The game is: Get a small watering-can and fill it to the top. Then let the water stream out in a line back and forth (slowly) and he'll chase the water. He wound up getting himself quite wet as a result and even after shaking himself out twice, he'll go back and bat at the water stream AGAIN

I don't know, by comparison to humans, cat hobbies seem downright tame and normal. I've never seen a cat tie itself to a giant rubber band and jump off a bridge, for example.

They also seem to have a car fetish. Everytime I let them out, the first thing that BOTH of them do is go and bolt STRAIGHT for my car and sniff all around it. Even when I haven't driven all day.

Bubba sir sexy psycho is a Russian blue. Hes pretty weird, he does this one thing that drives us fricking nuts. He wants out, so he goes out for seriously two mins then hes screaming to get back in. And when you open the door he runs away, this goes on for hours. WTF!!!! He also like to just hang, literally hang with one paw from the neighbors 3 foot tall tree. He doesnt like you to be in the shower so he screams at the shower curtain the whole time you're in there. So maybe its the breed.

I've had a number of cats that liked to play with water. And these same cats, if you tried to get them wet for any reason (bath, squirted with a water bottle, what have you) would absolutely FREAK. But as long as it's their idea, they're fine with getting completely soaked. Go figure.

I've about decided that cats are just weird. Period. But I wouldn't trade any of the cats I've had or my current one for anything, cause weird as they can be, they're also wonderful friends and companions.

I once had a cat that loved to play with rubber bands. Just had to shoot one past him and he was chasing it just like that.

My bombay, The Doctor, is completely silly. He worries about the shower and will supervise anyone in it, sometimes getting on the tub edge and shoving his head around the curtain, sometimes getting into the tub at the back. Bathtime is not too bad, he sits still and fusses at me through the whole process, but don't even think about squirting him with a water bottle.. he'll bolt across the room, turn, and look at you with this pitiful hurt look. He's very chatty, the most talkative cat I've ever had.

Kitty would walk around the cars, sniffing each wheel. Then he'd return to the porch, curl up, and take a nap. Eventually, he got to know who was on "his" farm, and that they were "allowed" to be there. If he saw a known car, he'd stay on the porch. Otherwise, he'd take off, and hide under the barn. Sure scared the crap out of him when I bought a new car in '00

What makes this one funnier is that neither of them would go anywhere near my old car (red Kia rio) but will beeline straight for my current car which I've had for a few months now (white Ford Laser wagon). They also don't go anywhere near my sisters car, which is the same model as mine, but is a hatchback and older and blue (hers is an 88 model, mine's a 94)

As I've mentioned, I'm currently packing for a major move, 3+ hours away.

I have a Very Large Box for linens.

Right now, the box is 2/3rds of the way full. And there's a pair of cat ears sticking out the top, just visible over the edge. I'm not entirely clear on how she got in there.
