  • Hotel workers - advice please

So the wonderful girlfriend and I are planning to celebrate our 2 year (dating) anniversary this Easter weekend.

We're on spending the long weekend in Burlington VT just to get away from it all and relax. We found a pretty good decent deal for a 3 night stay at one of the major chain hotels in the city.

My question is : Is it worth it to call the hotel directly and try to negotiate a slightly better rate? or is the price online really the best they can do?

    Thanks

It won't hurt to call. We hated having to deal with online reservations because the online booking sites would get a chunk of the proceeds. We'd rather give you the same rate you saw (or sometimes one even better) and keep all the dough.
Drive it like it's a county car.

Keep in mind also: Often on the various 'online' sites, you are required to pre-pay for the room. If you book directly with the hotel or use a travel agent, or the hotels own website, usually you simply have to hold the room with a credit card, and pay when you check out.

Of course, you have to present a card for incidentals upon checking in, but you can generally pay however you wish upon checking out.

the price we saw was on the hotels own website not a 3rd party

I called the place directly ( possibly the call center) and was able to get a 3 night stay in a deluxe king room ( regular $149) for $303.60 tax included and with no deposit. Much better then the price we saw online!

        that ain't bad!!
