  • I'm tired of my neighbor being a dick

Still having parking issues with this neighbor. Things have been very quiet since the fake handicap parking spot but this week for whatever reason he's started calling the cops on parking issues.

I haven't been parking by his house since September because my sister went away to school and was no longer parking in our driveway so there was finally room for me. I get out to my car this morning though, and there's a warning on it that I'm blocking the sidewalk. So, since there's not that much room that I can park without the bumper at least hanging a little past the driveway I'm now parking by his house again. Y'know, on the street which is all public parking.

My Dad talked to the neighbor next to us and asked if they had received any tickets and they were like, "yeah, we've gotten four this week." So now those guys can't park in their driveway either and are parking out on the street.

So, this idiot didn't like people parking by his house, yet by his antics has made it impossible for his neighbors to park anywhere *but* by his house Dolt.

What a moron. Pissing off your neighbors is NOT something you want to do, especially over something so ridiculous as parking.

It would be one thing if a neighbor was filling up all the street parking with visitors each and every single night (rude, if legal). But if you live there, then you live with the parking situation. Simple as that.

He's probably trying to get payback for the sign.

What ever happened with the boat? Did he have to move it?

Tell me about it. I had a neighbor like this once, and she was one everyone hated. With all of her health issues, she still wouldn't die like we wanted her to. However, the good news we recently heard was she's being foreclosed on! But, with her nasty demeanor, she'll probably claim squatter's rights before finally leaving, unless she somehow had a last minute saving.

No, I think he got rid of the boat in order to get the trailer for his car business. He keeps it on the concrete pad that he made for the most part. This is what's so ridiculous. I don't think he thought this through because the parking laws only allow a car to be parked in the same place without moving for 72 hrs. A trailer can only be parked for 24 hrs. He constantly has a car that will be parked for a week or more and has left that trailer on the street (not his pad) for 3 days several times.

I don't know if he realizes that once you call the parking police, they'll stop by on their own for months afterword completely 'cause it's money in the city's pocket. I've had it happen before. I'm really worried that they'll nail him for something and he'll blame "The Neighborhood" and call for more infractions as revenge and we'll start having problems for things other than parking like landscaping and stuff.

I was thinking it was payback for the sign too but that was a whole year ago. So if that's the case, he's been sitting on this for a year.

Exactly. The goofballs that live next door to my parents still haven't figured that out. They're the people who will flip out if you park in front of their house. So much, that they'll call the cops. How do I know this?

Well, a couple years back, my parents were having their driveway replaced. Their cars, along with my brothers' cars were out in the street, or at a friend's place the next street over. When the guys came to do the driveway (which took a few days), there were not only cars in front of our house, but a couple other places as well. Most people were pretty damn nice about it--the noise alone from the driveway being ripped out was truly mind-boggling. Not these people though. No sooner do the trucks arrive, the idiots next door went ballistic. They were actually screaming at one of the workmen because he parked his pickup there. Of course, he told them to "fuck off, it's a public street," and then they called the cops. Cops came, told them nothing could be done, and you'd think that would have been the end. Nope--seems the crazies decided to get even. They got both of their cars out...and boxed the guy in. That wasn't the only time they've done that...and not everyone was as nice as that workman.

Must be related to the old bat next door to me (the one that told me I have to talk to her...some reality issues there)

She actually puts an orange traffic cone in front of her house to keep people from parking there on Sunday when the church down the street has services. I have no idea where she got the cone from. There is a hydrant in front of her house, but it's so close to the end of the space that you could park there without blocking it. Anyway, if it's illegal to park there (there's no sign)...I think the cop who lives a couple doors away would have ticketed any cars that park there by now.

Yep. I was parked in the driveway. Apparently, the end of our driveway is also part of the sidewalk and the rear-end of my car was in it.

I think in my town the same law applies. if any part, however small it is, of your car is "blocking" the sidewalk, even when parked in your own driveway, the parking patrol or police can give you a a non-moving citation for "blocking or obstructing the walkway/sidewalk"

they really do not bother me or my GF cause our cars only hang over the sidewalk by meer inches. the parking patrol DOES have fun (as in at least once a week or so plant tickets on car windows) with the highschoolers. parking over the end of the corner, parking inbetween drivways (the space will only safely fit a sub-compact car and semi-bolck both driveways in when a larger vehicle is there), fire hydrant violations, etc.

If you (hypothetical you) are blocking enough of the concreted foothpath (sidewalk) that I can't get my mobility scooter past without going onto the nature strip, you can end up causing me pain. If the nature strip isn't level with the concreted section, that manouver could damage the scooter.

Or you could be like come of my neighbours, and completely block the entire footpath area; leaving me no option but to travel on the road. Which I'm not supposed to do. In a mobility scooter, I'm a pedestrian.

However, if you can easily get a mobility scooter past along the concreted footpath, I don't see any reason to ticket someone.

My friend bought a house with what looked like a really long drive that turns into a smaller parking area. The Realtor forgot to tell her that the long part of the driveway is technically owned by her next door neighbor, and she needs to get special permission from his to drive up and down it.

Now my house has the same situation. My neighbour technically owns the little road that leads to my house is owned by my next door neighbour. He allows my family to use the road, it is very nice of him.

My friend's neighbour is not so nice. He REFUSES to give her access to the road. So she apparently has to have a new driveway put in so she can get to her house. Otherwise she has to park on the street and walk across her front lawn quite a distance.

Her other neighbour says the guy's father used to let people use the road, but when he passed the son stopped allowing access. That's why the previous owner moved.

Though I have heard of a lot of cases where one neighbor not allowing the other road access.

Still sucks that you get fined for having your car's bumper hanging over the sidewalk. Is there a way you could lengthen you driveway a few inches so that you aren't hanging over the sidewalk?
