I just got back from hearing the Moody Blues! It was awesome!

Have you guys seen any good concerts lately? I'm hoping to catch as much classic rock as I can while they're still touring/alive. The list is long, but I've made a good start on it.

*These were all together in one huge, epic, amazing concert. If you ever get a chance to see Ringo Starr And His All-Starr Band, DO IT! The actual line-up changes, but it is always pretty darn awesome.

We saw BOC last year at the South Florida Fair - they are great. Kansas was there this year and put on a god show.

.38 Special still rocks.

Chicago is worth the price of admission.

We are debating over the Def Leppard / Heart show - it might be a good one to see.

It was. Although shorter than some concerts I've been to. But that's sort of not surprising. If I could do an hour and a half show when I'm 70, I'd be shocked. I'm not sure I could do one now!

Oh man. Kansas, 38 Special, and Chicago are definitely on the list of people I want to see! I dunno about Def Leppard/Heart either, I'd probably go if the tickets weren't too expensive.

Oh I really like Richard Page even though I haven't seen him live. I know he's doing the Ringo Starr's all star band thing right now. For those who have no idea who he is he used to be in the band Mr Mister.

Some great live shows I've seen...Jackson Browne numerous times. Melissa Etheridge back in 1988 when she was starting out. Timothy B Schmit (bassist for the Eagles and a former Ringo All Star Band person), Bacon Brothers (Kevin Bacon and his brother Michael), Fleetwood Mac, Crosby Stills and Nash, Bon Jovi (best live band ever)

Er...wait. They're not 70...or not all of them anyway!. Justin Hayward is 10 years older than me, which makes him 63 or 64, depending on when his birthday is. I think John Lodge is a year or 2 older. Ray Thomas may be around 70. And whoever else is touring with them right now is probably younger.

And yes they are awesome! My favorite band.

Oooh now you've got me started!

I saw KISS last year during their European Tour, the set was awesome (flying drums ftw) and they can still rock with the best of them!

I also fulfilled a dream last year when I saw Paul McCartney - he's still one of the best musicians out there. Hell, the dude's nearly 70 and he can still bring a tear to the eye with "Hey Jude".

But the MOST recent concert was with my Mum - we went to see Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) perform the whole of "The Wall." It was amazing, probably the most powerful and thought-provoking concert ever. I didn't know the album too well before I went but it's amazingly relevant still.

Personally I've seen A-ha (twice) which was awesome, the last tour was excellent and indeed was Ending on High Note (as the tour was called) since it was the final time. *sigh*

I've also seen the original line up of Asia and that ROCKED! Go see them! Would love to see the original line up of ELP but they rarely play together so seeing Carl Palmer in Asia is probably as close as I get.

Also seen a band no-one has ever heard of but they do have a pretty decent following. Mostly Autumn (though not since Heather has left) but not for a couple of years due to the death of my husband and the fact that when he was alive try would always play on the nights he was working locally and in the month he couldn't take any time off

Need to go to more gigs. I just keep spending my money on other things *Cough*Dragon*con*Cough*

They played here in town yesterday, but I couldn't go.

They do, they do...Hayward is under-appreciated as a guitarist, he's really very good....and you know those long notes he sang in "Nights in White Satin" all those years ago? He can still do that....

I've seen the Moodies twice - always a great show.

I've also caught Bob Seger 4 times, John Fogarty twice (3rd time coming up next month), The Kinks, and more than a few others.

Going to see Huey Lewis in a few weeks as well.

John Fogarty puts on an amazing show - one of the best I've ever seen, if not the best.

Edited to add: If you ever have a chance to get/listen to the full 2-record version of War of the Worlds, DO IT! Great music on there, and Hayward's "Forever Autumn" is a great song.

Probably a few others that I've either forgotten this time or aren't worth mentioning (lame opening bands, for example). I know I've been to about 60 shows and seen about 75 bands, some good, some bad, some great, some awful. And this doesn't count bar bands, either. (Though I have to give a special mention to the Red Elvises, the best bar band EVER, who I've seen several times in Key West, and who you really should see if/when they come to your area.)

There are very few bands that I've wanted to see, that I could have seen (obviously could never have seen The Doors or The Beatles in my lifetime), that I haven't seen. The list is short: The Who, Meat Loaf, Melissa Etheridge, Tom Petty, Jimmy Buffett, and The Go-Go's.

Sadly, living in Key West does not provide much opportunity for concerts (one of the few bad things about living on a remote tropical island paradise, I must say).

We are debating over the Def Leppard / Heart show - it might be a good one to see.

This cracks me up, as I AM going to see them. They are playing a week after my birthday up in West Palm Beach, and I am SO going up there for it. A friend of mine, who is a huge Heart fan like me, and also likes Def Leppard, but unlike me has never seen either, is coming along for the ride. Later today I'll be purchasing the tickets and booking the hotel. My birthday present to myself. Yay me!
