  • Cyber center no longer offers movie and dvd player rentals

The hospital I volunteer at usually twice a month on a Saturday has a place called the Cyber Center. Beginning around 1998 that place offered vhs movie rentals and tv/vcr rentals for the patients and visitors. Then a couple of years ago the vhs movies were replaced with dvd movies, & the tv/vcr's were replaced with dvd players.

Over the years many movies went missing & had to be replaced.

I volunteered at the hospital this past Saturday, & the full-time paid weekday evening & weekend volunteer coordinator said that the Cyber Center no longer offers this service.

So because patients and or visitors felt it was ok to literally take hospital property home, volunteer services was forced to no longer offer movie and dvd rentals.

Volunteer Services does not have a never ending budget to replace stolen property.

Its sad but probably necessary. The few ruin it for the many.

Lets see how many will now complain.

The louder they complain the higher chance that they were part of the problem?

I guess there wasn't much of an inventory management system?

when a place offers a service like that, they should have a check out system like the library, where it tracks who has what and where they live. Set a limit on how long it can be out. If it doesn't come back charge a late fee. If it doesn't come back in two weeks charge them the full price of the dvd. And don't let them check out anything else until it's returned or paid for.
