I'm sure you were all very kind and gentle to Plaid's mom. I wrote to her from the perspective of another bereaved parent but I didn't get too wordy either. Sometimes there really are no words.

It's beautiful. A beautiful, loving tribute to a lost friend. I think Driver's mom will be touched that so many people cared so much for her son.

Shipped out the quilt last night, and it's already in Kansas.

I miss it already. It was such a great source of positive energy, but now it's going where it needs to be.

That's pretty much what I came up with just a few minutes ago. After talking it over with my Mom, we felt it best to go that route - I'm sure Mama Plaid will be overwhelmed as it is, poor thing.

I'll mail it out today on my way to work (damn closing shift again - GRRRRRRRRRRR.)

From my own experience, the first Christmas after a loved one goes is the hardest. I am often amazed that I even made it through last winter. Does Plaid's mom have a good support group?

I put a link to The Compassionate Friends' website in my card...they have been a lifesaver for me, and maybe they have meetings local to her. If not (or even if so), they also have online chats every night of the week for bereaved parents. I hope she will check it out if she hasn't already.

I am hoping she has found a Compassionate Friends chapter. The meetings were so helpful to me in the first couple of years after Meghan died.
