*not asking for advice here, just would appreciate positive thoughts that this works out for the best advantage of everyone involved*
To give background info - my immediate family has planned a road trip to California during the last week of this month. I am the only one who won't be going, mainly because I can't afford to take that much time off, and I'm not a fan of road trips in general.
The problem is, my daughter is saying she doesn't want to go (partially based on she doesn't always get on with my mom), and wants to stay with me while everyone is out of town. I am NOT for this idea at all, and just to give a few reasons why:
- I'm really not supposed to take Heather to work with me, and she can't always be trusted to stay at home by herself and not invite friends over, make messes,.....etc.
- we wouldn't be able to really go anywhere or do anything because of my work schedule and having to depend on the bus for transportation. (part of why she doesn't want to to on the family road trip is because she says nobody ever wants to do anything.....it would be even worse if she stayed with me)
- most of the time Heather and I get along ok, but with everyone out of town, I have NO backup if there should be a serious problem.
anyhow, my mom tells me that I shouldn't worry, and that Heather IS going along on the trip......if she does bring it up again, she's going to have my sister and her husband talk to Heather. (and to be fair, Heather hasn't outright refused to go, she just asked this afternoon if she could stay with me)

For good measure, have some positive thoughts concerning/for your relationship with her (and vice versa)!
