  • I have a stalker.

It's actually getting to be a bit freaky.

This guy used to work with my company so he knows how our email addresses work (it's pretty easy, though). I never liked the guy because he was continually trying to sell me out, lied to customers an managers about things said and was generally lazy. To say I didn't like the guy would be putting it mildly. He "left" the company many months ago.

A few months ago I got a Facebook friend request from him. I ignored it because I do not want to be associated with this person. I thought it was done. A week or so later I gt an email from MySpace he sent me a friend request though that. Since I don't use MySpace anymore I ignored it.

It didn't stop there. Then, though my work email I get a LinkedIn invitation from him. LinkedIn emails suck, the ONLY way you can reject them is to sign up, add them, and then remove them. I was't going to do that and I was getting them daily for months. I ended up having a big argument with LinkedIn over this flaw and they refused to work it out, I had to report it as spam to my company's email admins as well as to LinkedIn, their registrar, and their host. (Their defense was that he was re-sending the requests - this is a major flaw then if someone is allowed to do it this often for so long!). I get that cleared out.

Today I started on +Google. I'm giving it a try but oddly now I see an email in my work inbox from +Google - guess who is sending me a friend request??

This person can't take a hint, he must think we're best friends or something (even though he doesn't know my phone# or my personal mail address).

I'm willing to bet that he wants something from you. He sounds like he's a fairly toxic CW, and possibly since he 'left' your company, he's found it hard to find other employment and now wants an introduction to someone / information about getting re-hired / a personal reference, something of that nature.
Back in my Huge Insurance Company days, we had a section leader who had been in the RAF at one time. One of the commissionaires in our building had been stationed at the same place, and was continually trying to get the SL to get a place for him in the office (not that SL had the authority to even do that). He was constantly going on about how great mates they had been, when in fact the SL told us that nobody in the camp (including himself) could stand this guy.

Psst, look at post #7. I saw that thread and my situation is no where nearly as bad as that. This guy is just cyber-stalking me.

That's a possibility since I'm sure he was fired when his buddy-manager was also fired.

I wouldn't recommend this person to anyone unless I was paid, a lot (and by a lot I mean single-winner multi-state lottery jackpot winning).

I don't understand about LinkedIn. Can't you just delete and ignore the requests? I've never used LinkedIn so please excuse me if this is a dumb question...

You get an email when they put in the request. The email he sent it to isn't the one I use for LinkedIn nor do I want to use it with that.

I delete the email since there is no decline option. He re-sends the request again and again with no way of option out other then signing up, adding him, and then deleting him.

              Restraining order, perhaps?

Oh wait, to a stalker a restraining order is just another way of saying "I love you."

I'd just have one last conversation with him to see what he wants. Once he makes his unreasonable request, say "Hell no. Leave me alone."

If he fails to do so.... let me know. I have a plan.

Not to play devil's advocate here, but it's possible he doen't know lhe's sending them.

If you join Facebook and don't immediately, change some defaults, everyone in your email address book get spammed with a Friend invitation. At least, it was like that when I joined. Really bad and embarassing and intrusive.

                Other sites might be similar.

Or, yeah, he might be trying way too hard. could go either way.

LinkedIn told me that they get sent when they send (or re-send) the request.

                  +Google is manual invitations also.

I hope it never gets worse than that...trust your intuition.

Can you block him from your email?
