  • No Power since yesterday morning

Please send your good karma to those of us in the Chicago area... 800,000 households were without power with only about half restored (not me, of course). This is the second time in a month this has happened. I hope to have an update by noon today on a TIMETABLE... blah. Fortunately i wisely turned off my expensive electronics and unplugged before yesterday's storm hit... And luckily i can stay at my girlfriend's house for the duration.

Aw, man, that's tough. Is it hot there? It's too hot even for me down here, I don't know what I'd do if the power went out.

Probably head for the hills. Literally.

I don't know what I'd do if the power went out.
A number of my friends here have had problems with their a/c going out...I'm praying that ours holds out, because we'd just wind up getting a hotel room.

My bro-in-law said he saw the cast-iron patio furniture flying and one piece fell over the top of the high-rise. o_O

Wow. There must have been a small tornado or microburst or something.

I had what must have been a microburst hit my deck once and it tore my patio furniture limb from limb. I was finding pieces of it in different parts of the yard.

There were 75 mph winds for about 20 minutes...

Power just came on about an hour ago...

Gah. Sucks about the food! Also glad to know you and your electronics didn't melt... and dang. I expect those kinds of winds out on the Plains, not in Chi-town! .___.

My hometown is still without power from Monday's storm. They said the winds were 110-130 mph for 20+ minutes. It's crazy to look at pictures of the damage.
