  • Deadlands?

I know there are a few pen and paper gamers on this board. Any of you ever played the Savage Worlds Deadlands?

I've been wanting to play this game ever since I heard about it about a year ago but I kept losing the chance to buy the books. I REALLY want to try it, maybe play a Huckster or a Gunfighter.
I have a...thing. Wanna see it?

    don't hate me...

next few weeks or so, my group is gonna be starting a Deadlands game.

soon as we finish "city of the spider queen"

No, but I know about it and it looks interesting. I think I actually have a Deadlands book around somewhere.

Back in the bad old days, we used to play Boot Hill. Yeah. The ancient TSR one. We used to write our own stuff, and I think we had a Deadlands book we used for reference. And we were overjoyed when they started making miniatures, because that meant we could get some to use in our games and stop using the ridiculous molded plastic cowboys and indians from the Dollar Store.

Don't you play it with cards or something?

I have the original Deadlands rulebook along with a few prewritten scenarios. Personally, I want to rework the rules a little (it seems severely underpowered and confusing on some rules), but then I want to run a few games.

And RK: The magic system is based around cards. Don't have to play with cards, but....that's half the fun. ^__^

Hopefully we can get the books soon. I talked it over with my group and all sounded interested.

I've played the original version, and enjoyed it.

I'm sure the new version will be as good or better

I haven't played the Savage Worlds version, but the old origional was fun. Paricularly fun since the GM running it also ran Call of Cthuhlu campaigns.

I played a huckster and took the whole "Hide your magic from norms" thing seriously. All-in-all, we had a good time.
