  • Kitty's home!

Yes, indeed. Shaved in certain areas, with a bandage on one leg. She meowed all the way home. As I waited in the office, I had the door of the carrier open so I could pet her. She rubbed HARD against my hand, and made some moves as if she would leave the carrier. I talked her out of it.

As I was typing this, she jumped up on a chair, settled down, and gave a little mew.

What worries me now is, the cost. It was more than I had expected. And I'm supposed to bring her BACK on Monday for MORE blood testing. I hope to hell that the job I applied for recently will work out. (I'm still shooting the video for the other client, but I can't imagine asking him for an advance. I haven't been working for him that long, and I've already done more article work than he had planned.)

    Wish us all luck!

She's VERY happy to be here. Other Girl doesn't recognize this weird-smelling stranger, though.

        *sniff*sniff* HISS

It's going to take a few days.

I had to give Baby a pill a few minutes ago. She's very good at not taking them, so I had to keep a close eye on her. I'm bigger, but she has claws (I still have a scar where, years ago, she ripped my pinkie from base to end when I put a flea collar on her).

And she's eating. Most of it off my finger, but she IS eating.

Hehehe Sally did that when Baxter came home from the vet once. He somehow managed to tighten his collar...which had then cut into his neck. The vet had used some sort of chemicals...which she didn't like.

She ate quite a bit, earlier. Off my finger. She also ate a bit of food from the bowl. Before I go to bed, I'm going to give her more finger food.

Funny thing - when I went to the kitchen for some water, both kitties followed me and stood there, meowing. This is what they do when it's time to eat. However, their food and water dishes are now in the living room, where I can keep an eye on them.

Baby has been walking around and checking things. Other Girl just tried to jump in the window, only to slither off the radiator and fall to the floor, which is common for her.

I've been lying on the floor and giving my baby some pets. I hear that she behaved herself very well at the clinic. She must have mellowed. I told the vet on duty today how afraid I was that kitty wouldn't make it, and she said, "Oh, don't say that!"

It's doubly stressful now, with the added costs of Monday's visit. I need a steady income. Right now.

Glad the kitty is OK. As for the other cat, she'll warm up to her once that vet smell wears off. I went thru the same ordeal with Frisky (the cat I lost a couple months ago) a few years back when his urinary tract got blocked. He was OK in the end, but things were quite uncertain for awhile. And like your cat, he had been shaved in several places, or as my wife put it, "He looks like a poodle!"

It cost about $600 to save him -- the animal hospital I rushed him to in the middle of the night charged me about $400 and then the follow-up care at my regular vet was another $200. But I never complained about the money. I was just glad he was OK. Not that it wasn't difficult paying, of course.

Give both kitties hugs for me. I too hope you get that job. Talk about stressful!
I'm just sorry the bottom fell out on my own personal market (ie no $$ )-- which is why I was unable to participate in the auction.
Even though I want a cat (or ten) so badly... I know it'd be so, so irresponsible and wrong of me to get any other living creature right now. No money, in college, no job... parents supporting me, and they have money issues of their own right now.
Best wishes for you and your furry babies. *crosses fingers for job*

Ugh...I still have bad memories from Ri's vet bills (the week long stay was 2 weeks pay...ek)

Happy Kitty is home and eating...vet smell takes a few days to wear off, then other kittty will be okay.
