That's what I've been doing. She skulks out of the way when she sees me coming with the syringe. I think that may be why she hasn't been eating much of the liver I cooked - I've been using the broth to mix with her medicine, and just to feed her. She liked the wet food I brought home today. She just needs to eat more of it.

Hmm..if a syringe bothers her, maybe a baby bottle with a broth then? It won't be perfect, but any vitamins that you can get in her is good.Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

Will she eat food off your finger? When our old kitty Rocky was very sick, we had the hardest time getting him to eat (all the trouble was in his mouth, the pain made him not want to eat) until I tried offering some baby food on my finger. Got him to eat a whole jar that way! I know it won't work for all kitties, though...just wondering...When you start at zero, everything's progress.

She'll do it sometimes. Last night, she did the kitty equivalent of clamping her lips together, though, and she moved her head from side to side. I smeared it on her mouth.
Today, I finally got things together and vacuumed and mopped, as well as putting crap away. After I got out of the shower, she was putting in a small workout on the climbing tree. I went into the living room, where their food now is, and she headed for the bowl. So did Other Kitty.
I wish I'd caught it on tape. One bowl with dry food, two kitties. They kept pushing each other out of the way. Other Kitty is a real help here, because when she goes for the bowl and stays there, she's motivating Alpha Kitty to eat. It's the most I've seen her eat in several days.
She's still getting the syringe, though. She needs to gain weight.

Kitty got more Vitamin C today; she hissed at me when I approached her with the dreaded syringe.
She's eating her dry food; I'm going to give her the wet stuff, too.
About twenty minutes ago, I discovered Other Kitty giving her a good wash. CUTE!

She got some wet food this evening, and ate it. She even hung around a couple of toys earlier today - she didn't make a move toward playing with them, but she made herself comfortable just inches away.
I'm going to keep on keeping on with her. She's my baby. She deserves the best life I can give her - and if the vet is going to give me doom and gloom, to hell with him.

This story makes me happy
I am confident that Alpha Kitty will gain weight back. My cat got very very thin when she was in serious kidney failure, and even though she's not back where she was before, she's in the 9-10 lb range which really is where she should be. As a young cat she once got up to 16 lbs!!

Just remember: he's trying to help. You probably wouldn't be going to him if he didn't genuinely care for the animals he sees, so he's doing his educated best to assist your kitty to be well again.Quoth Eireann View Post--and if the vet is going to give me doom and gloom, to hell with him.
Although, I do understand and relate to the sentiment you've expressed. And, sometimes, that sentiment works.

I think he was giving me the worst-case scenario as a way of covering his own ass. I just chose to go a different route.
My baby doesn't like the Vitamin C/medicine I give her, but she's pretty good about taking it. Not always - often, she sneaks out of the way when she sees me coming - but no claws, no biting. I've got it down to one syringe of crap, rather than having to give her one syringe-full after another because I misjudged the amount of liquid I was using to mix with the medication.
She's asleep in a chair now.
