  • Offically the worst day ever

So i woke up this morning all bright and... ok who am i kidding all sluggish and tired thinking i was going to test today.

    Boy was I wrong.

I get there and the tester and i had had a miscommunication. I wasn't testing until he called me.
So i go home and decide to go get some more sleep.
About half way to sleep land i get a call, from my sup asking me to come in for a talk about my training.
I thought they where going to say i need more.

Instead i was told i am no longer going to be considered for employment. If everything that happened in training and my testing im basically not considered hire-able at this time. I kind of understand but basically i was just fired and right i can't afford not to be working. I get one last paycheck for training and i can still test 1 more time for my CDL but i have no where to work.

I am crying right now. Later Ill start the hunt again. I need a job. Even a crappy will barely give you 15 hours a week at minimum wage job. Because In a week im not going to have anywhere to live.

No place ot live no job..... iM GOING BACK OT CRYING

to add insult to injury I also have to, to get my CDL, either find some place that will allow me to rent a bus and a driver for testing, buy a bus and rent a driver to drive with me to the testing site to test, or come up with about 1500 bucks to go to a testing and training center where to be tested ill have to retain.

just found out <college town> is also hiring drivers, as well as other positions. Going to fill out an application (and actual paper one) and am now trolling for 2 people willing to write letters of recommendation.

I hope hope hope they will see 'girl who we just need to proved a few hours of training and then test without much more expense' and say lets hire her

Wish I could help in some way, slicey. I totally understand, money has been tight around here for the last few months with all my legal fees and past due bills.

I have plenty of happy thoughts and virtual hugs to offer, that's about it.

You are kind of in luck there are many companies that if you sign an agreement to drive for them will not only pay for you to get your CDL, but pay you personally while you do so.

Like http://primeinc.com/. Pm me the general area where you are, and I might be able to point you to one that is located in your area.

my cdl permit is only for Class B
So Class A would require a new permit. but my permit has P and S endorsements

Class B you might have to work on getting hazmat if you don't already have it. Unless it is for a bus company. Most places want that hazmat endorsement for Class B. However, with a Class B..the companies that usually pay for training will consider you earlier then somebody with a Class C (the normal type). Oh and Chauffeur's are class B if I remember right, so that might be a possibility.

I have a class B with every endorsement but hazmat, and have yet to find anything . I chickened out of Class A, however, so the ones who pay for people to get their class A's won't even look at me.

I think Hazmat cost $45 (but that was awhile ago, could cost more) to take the test and add it to your permit. You can add it to your permit (or should be able to) without paying for another permit, but I am not sure.

Of course coming up with the 45 (or whatever it is) is not easy . Wish I could help more, but if you are brave enough you can contact the companies that will pay for the new permit/training/test and pay you while you are training. Just keep in mind you will have to sign an agreement that you will work for them exclusively for some time.

Slice. If you are ANYWHERE near Wilmington Ohio, there is another option. Southern State Community College. It has a CDL training section, and if I remember right you can use Federal Student Aid to pay for the classes. Yes they do class b. They will also let you use their vehicles, it is not cheap, and you would have to pay the Student aid back, but other similar training facilities should be available. Let me see what I can find for you. I will try my best to come up with options for you!

Edit: Here is what I found out. Besides some colleges (financial aid would cover most of it, but you would have to pay that back eventually), seems only CDL A's are paid for..and there is something to think about that. If you sign an agreement, and fail to get your CDL class A..you will have to pay the place that paid for it back. . Regardless if you quit, or the school flunks you for whatever reason. Which stinks. With the colleges they pay for the permit, train you, pay for your first test..and then financial aid would pay them back, and besides any grants you would have to pay them back at least 50/month again regardless if you get the CDL's or not.

Slicey, you may have to give up the drivng idea and grab whatever you can to survive. I know I complain about my custies, but I work in a mall store, which my company is phasing out. The company is pretty good for a retail. And when I am not up front, I like working there. (just have issues as a cashier) I suggest you apply. PM me if you want advice on that.

Ok as I find them, I will post the places that pay for everything (as long as you pass) including a new permit (if you want to go class A). Then I will list colleges in the area that offer training (and financial aid). I am majorly crossing my fingers for you.

*update* Right now the only thing keeping me for being homeless is my grandmother.
I'm applying my ass off but of the 3 interviews i've had in the last 2 weeks only 1 has called and that was to say sorry we went with someone else.

Im continuing to put in applications though. I pray i find anything.
