  • A remedy for a bad day

I'm sure that some of you have seen this recipe before but I thought i would share it.

This is my ultimate comfort when I've had a bad day!

    5 Minute Chocolate Cake

    You will Need:
    A Mug
A Spoon (Just a standard desert or table spoon works fine)
    Plain Flour
    Caster Sugar
    Cocoa Powder
    An Egg
    Milk
    Veg/Sunflower Oil
    A Microwave

Mix together 3 spoons of flour, 3 spoons of sugar and 2 of cocoa in the mug.
Add the egg, 3 spoons of milk and 3 spoons of oil.
Mix very well, make sure none of the flour is stuck to the bottom of the mug. It doesn't matter if the mixture is lumpy.
Stick it in the microwave on full power for 3 minutes (may need more or less time depending on how powerful your microwave is)
    Lick Spoon
Take out of microwave and enjoy!

I sometimes add other things like nuts or chocolate chips, just stick em in before you put them in the microwave. It also tastes nice with cream or icing on it.

(and it works great with soya milk in it, as I'm allergic to dairy so have to make that substitution)

The worst part is that if you have the ingredients, temptation comes around quite often!

Oh it is! It should come with a warning, definitely not a diet friendly item, it totally throws off my healthy eating habits if I have one!

Now if only I knew how to make a non-chocolate variation on it. I'm not as big a fan of chocolate cake, but 5-minute cake in general would be wonderful.

          Here's a yellow cake version.

Google 'mug cake' and you should find some other variations.

Just don't forget the egg...it comes out like a rock (as my roomie learned the hard way).

                Damn you Beki!!!!!

I had finally managed to avoid those nuke-at-home-cakes-for-one they sell at the supermarket and now I have this temptation to deal with

I now have to try this recepie when I get home tonight......

Oh, this is like the recipe Lupo posted a while back!

But she forgot to mention the egg.

It was... interesting, to forget the egg. There were a couple of WTF moments amongst the Chat crowd.

                          Hon, Pedersen was there.

He'll never let you live anything down.

We never let him live anything down either, so it all comes out in the wash, but still. You'll never live it down.

                            Nice, lupo.

It's probably a gooooooooood thing I don't have some of the ingredients. I've had far too much sugar today. That sounds good, though. Mmm. Nummy.

That is actually the original type of a cup cake (yes, the space between cup and cake is intentional). They were quite literally a cake in a cup and were made by the lower class citizens who couldn't afford the large cakes that the wealthy could afford.

Just a little trivia for you.
