  • Whoa.

Friends of mine, a married couple, perform wedding ceremonies as a sideline. They're deservedly popular at it (and if anyone's interested in knowing more about them, please PM me for details).

Anyway. They were supposed to perform a wedding ceremony recently.

This ceremony will never take place.

The bride didn't call it off. The groom didn't call it off. It was not due to parental pressure.

What happened is, they decided to do some drugs (what, I don't know) and both are now dead. Something in the chemistry, it seems.

I don't know the couple, I have no idea who they were, but this double tragedy, at a time when everyone was expecting a blissfully happy union, has really hit home. I keep thinking of all the wedding presents that will have to be returned; the vendors who will have to be told that there will be no ceremony; the venue canceled; the outfits bought especially for the occasion that will now only be a memory of grief.

    Incredible.

        <.< Also guilty.

I actually said the whole "drugs are bad, mmk" thing to a friend of mine after he told me he'd nearly OD'd. Kinda floored him, because he'd expected me to totally go off my rocker or something. I just told him "You're an adult. You know better. If you're going to be stupid enough to get yourself killed, then how can I stop you?"

From what he said, it scared him pretty good.

To a teenager (who is on prescribed psychoactive drugs), I covered the fact that prescribed and pharmacist dispensed drugs are of a known substance, a known quantity of that substance, with benign carrier substances, and the dosage provided is within known-safe limits.

Street drugs could be any substance, any quantity, any quality, and the carrier substance could be just about anything.

It made him think. I don't know if it scared him or anything, but at least he thought.
