  • Gamers help! I'm looking for the impossible

I am trying to find an MMO or even just an online game where fighting/ killing is not the part of the game.

Im hoping for more of a civilsation building or quest based game rather than combat/ kill everything game. Does that even exsist?

Think like Reniassance Kingdoms or Sim City on steriods?

I don't want to play second life or Sims but rather create a kindgom or land from scratch....

    Any suggestions?

Probably not to your liking but the high security regions of EVE Online you can just mine and manufacture if that is what you want, but there is no interface like World of Warcraft, you do not have bodies, you are a little pod that fits into a ship. They finally implemented a 'captains quarters" in the space stations where you have a hangar to keep your ships and stuff in. You do have a body there, but you can only do stupid shit like walk around looking at your apartment, change what you look like and play with your inventory.

To be honest, I really do not think there is any sort of MMO that is just hanging out and doing crafting, really. You can sort of do it in Lord of the Rings, you have to kill and stuff for 5 levels, in the tutorial before they let you out into the world, though I suppose you could avoid all that and buy a character from someone where they already leveled it a bit to get out into the world and high enough to get into crafting.
EVE Online: 99% of the time you sit around waiting for something to happen, but that 1% of action is what hooks people like crack, you don't get interviewed by the BBC for a WoW raid.

The BF played EVE for a year or so and it is still to killing based for me.

I don't mind Utpoia Kingdoms, that is the closest I have found so far. I don't mind battles (although no one on one killing) if I just kind of get reports of the battle. I don't want to slash or punchy or fire ball anything myself.

Before anyone says anything, yes I realise I am not actually killing and yes I realise these are just images of creatures. I still can't bring myself to find entertainment in killing or hurting...I just do not enjoy battling. My BF spent a good hour lecturing me on that already.

Just a heads up..other players will attack you in Empire craft. No actual WoW style fighting, you just get a report, but it can be a nuisance. All fights are just 'report' style..ie you learn who won, what you gained or lost, etc.

Im fine with that, but thank you for the heads up!

I just have an personal problem with having fun while killing something, ironic as I hunt and fish, but those deaths IRL have a purpose and I don't take pleasure in them but it feeds our family. I can't have fun killing something, it just doesn't compute with me.

WoW raiding at it's core definition right there, only repeatedly.

Sorry, used to play WoW. I guess I've been in one too many fail raid guilds.

Not bitter or anything, just my impression of the game.

Minecraft There are bad guys, but you can turn them off. You can play it through your browser, and there are servers, though I've never played on any, so while I assume there are peaceful servers out there, I don't know for certain.

If you're on Facebook look for CivWorld - it's by Sid Meier and based on his civilization games. Yes, there is a little PVP (or CivVCiv) action but not much.

If you decide to join, try o get into "Faraday's Game" and join the Indian Commonwealth - that's civ I'm in.

Have you taken a look at MMORPG.com? They have an extensive list of MMOs along with reviews from not only the people on the website, but players themselves.

I used to play WoW, but suspended my account due to financial reasons as well as just got tired of doing the same thing day after day (or so it seemed).
                        Random conversation:
Me: Okay..so I think I get why Zoro wears a bandana
                        DDD: Cuz it's cool

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.

Hard one. There's certainly nothing at a big name game company type level like that. EVE doesn't count, EVE is a spread sheet with sound effects. -.-

I just play Rift for lack of anything else right now. I wish there was something else. But I guess I'm just killing time till Guild Wars 2 or something.

                            <3 this so much

I can really only think of one, and I've never played it but I'd not recommend it. A coworker has been trying to talk me into playing Second Life for awhile, and eerily enough, ever since I came out he's upped his efforts. I have heard tales of this abomination of programming though, and always politely decline after he spends a couple of hours talking about how awesome the game is. And every now and then he reminds me the server he owns is primarily for BDSM, "but anything goes, really."

I was talking to another coworker about this a couple of weeks ago and she said, "Do you know what Second life IS?" I said, "Yeah, it's pretty much 4Chan: The Game." She said she looked it up because he neglected to mention certain aspects of the game. She mentioned how boring it sounded because you don't kill anything unless you really want to, and then she got into some other aspects of it and closed the browser in terror.

I wish I knew of a game like this. I'd love it. I'm sick of being able to build up my area then someone comes and destroys the hell out of it. I just want a game where I can keep building and getting better without being molested by some dbag thinking he's awesome for beating up on other people in a game.
