I'm thinking of finally doing it for my birthday and just have a question about aftercare. I don't want to risk infection, so I can go without makeup if need be. But, as you ladies over 30 know, some kind of moisturizer is essential. I was thinking I could swab it with whatever people use tp clean it, then put a small bandaid over it while I put on face cream, then pull off the bandaid and go. Would that work? Also, how long does it typically take to heal? I just want a very small stud in one nostril. Thanks, ladies.

As long as you make sure your keeping it clean then makeup shouldn't be a problem. I used to use a Q-Tip around the area dipped in the saline/sterile solution after I had applied moisturiser just to make sure it was clear of anything that could clog it. I think it's meant to take 6 weeks to heal, but I knocked mine out by accident after scratching my nose after 2 weeks so I think mine took a bit longer.
Just make sure when you get it pierced they do it with a needle and not a gun as a gun can destroy the cartilage in your nose.My Crafting Profile http://www.craftster.org/forum/index...ofile;u=139859

In the UK I think it's now illegal to get cartilage pierced with a gun, not so much when I had to done! I've seen pics of the damage it can cause so please make sure it's a needle! My Crafting Profile http://www.craftster.org/forum/index...ofile;u=139859

If your workplace does not allow body jewellery for whatever reason, I would strongly suggest using a bandaid or similar to cover it until it heals completely, then get a clear retainer that you can wear during your shift. Ask your piercer. The best professors are mad scientists! -Zoom
