I think I found something to wake my ass up enough to exercise: NyQuil. Yeah, somehow, it makes me hyper, more than any energy drink, Slim Fast or caffeine will. But if it gives me energy to use the Thigh Master or play a few sweaty rounds of DDR, then I will totally take a shot of it prior to exercise. I'm still sick with a cold now anyway, so I can justify its use for that.

I meant to say ShadowBall, if you use it on your arms again, take it much more slowly & build up gradually (just my opinion due to thighs are generally stronger than arms).

Its not that far fetched anyway, I know someone who goes very hyperactive & can't sleep on aspartamine, yet can fall asleep after very strong coffee!

Gah, I finally find a diet I can lose weight on without getting low sugar shakes every five mins... and I get every other bit of weirdness associated with the diet instead! Gym yesterday didn't last very long as I was shattered

Cutting down on the fats and stuff this week. Hit the spare TVP mince last night. Barely passable, really, but a dose of fire sauce had me keeping the bog roll in the fridge overnight. Didn't just add kick, but gave it steel toe-capped boots at the same time.

Not been keeping an eye on the weight, as I know I'm eating too much, but another 25 minutes today.

              W00t!
Before I even leave the house to get on the scales today, I've noticed I'm down a dress size
Last time I tried these trousers on, I had to do a contortionist act to fasten them & then I couldn't breath!

Nearly two weeks since I last got on the doojickey, so I toned it down to level 3. Didn't really feel the strain of the tension, but being careful as knee has been giving warning signs - a main cause of being off for nearly two weeks. Kept it to 20 mins.

Heart rate monitor dragged out of the desk drawer and it reckons I got away with 365 calories. Meh. Averaged 165 bpm. May try a full session come the morrow. Reckon I'm getting the same cardio as per the exercise bike.

Need to stop eating so much. Was given a small tub of chocolate ice cream today. Ate it anyway.

I pop a max strength ibuprofen before I do any workouts

Anyway, I'm chuffed today... another 4 pounds off, which is a total of 1 stone 1 pound (or 15 pounds)!
Last week I measured myself and I'd lost a total of 6 inches... hence the dropping a dress size

I asked my physio if I should do something along those lines and he advocated against - his reasoning being that if it starts to hurt as a warning sign, you don't get to feel it. I suspect advice from different people will differ.

I checked with my GP about it & she was fine.
Suppose it all comes down to the nature of the problem really. This knee problem is osteoarthritis.. the last knee problem I had on the other leg was compacted cartilage.

It wasn't until I used the body analyser at the gym that I realised that between both those, I've lost an inch in height!
I wasn't that tall to begin with

My hubby and I joined a gym 3.5 weeks ago. I've been working my ass off about 5 days a week since. The first week I saw no change in the scale, but since then I've dropped a little over 3 lbs! I've also increased my endurance noticeably- I can ride 35 minutes at level 4, whereas I could barely manage 10 at level 1 when I started. I'm pretty proud of myself. And tired...

Just dared to get on the scales for the first time in whenever. 18st 7lb. Not as bad as feared. Not great.

Not only that, but you get a crappier workout. Ibuprofen is a muscle relaxant. It makes it impossible to work your muscles to their full capacity.

I don't use them before weight training, but if I'm on Advil anyway for cramps or headaches, I'll still go for a run.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com

I use an app at the moment on my phone called Virtua Gym, although I'm going to mix it up with another app that's also a personal trainer. Both of them have a mix of workouts that don't involve any equipment since I can't afford a gym membership

The workout I'm doing at the moment is a 20-minute one, although I'm also doing some incidental exercise where I can (so i.e. adding a stair climb instead of parking closer to classes). This is the workout I'm doing:

                              3 minute march.
                              15 squats
10 static lunges (1 on each leg)
                              15 windmills
                              6 supermans
                              10 pushups
                              2 x 10 front rotations
                              2 by 10 stomach crunches
                              10 Human board highs
                              8 minute cooldown.

I do seem to have this problem however that I haven't noticed with the lunges, but have noticed when I do something like the cross trainer, that I end up with really sore knees and they end up giving out. Anyone experienced this?

Crosstrainer - using one from time to time myself. My mother has the same complaint as I do in the knees (osteoarthritis) and her gym heartily recommends against it. My physio says it's great for them, as low impact and works the muscles required.

You tell me. I don't know.

Suspect if it works for you then do it. Depends on what's up with your knees.
