  • excuse me-pet peeve

Just a small pet peeve, but it's been irking me big time lately.

I always try to say excuse me whenever I cross paths with anyone. Crossing across someone in the grocery aisle, entrances to stores, I say "excuse me." Hell, I say it at home when I have to cross in front of someone. I think I've even said it to the pets!

I don't expect other people to say it to me, I've given up on it a long time ago, what gets me is when the people say, "oh no problem or sure thing" something along those lines.

I know it's not a problem. I'm just being freaking polite!
Is it really SO hard to listen to the prompts?

I'd probably end up saying "no problem" or "sure thing" myself, and like your "excuse me," it's meant to be polite. But that's me. It'd be an automatic response.

Well, I usually just move aside without saying anything. Does that help?

My pet peeve is when people think that saying "excuse me" gives them automatic entitlement to shove past me.

I'm the same way, if I can get by I'll say "excuse me" and scoot past. if I can't I'll wait for them to move out of the way.

Yeah, shoving past someone can be annoying.

I meant more of a crossing in front of someone in like the aisle of a grocery store. Like if they are looking at the shelves, but have left the space in front of them.
