My Fishie Thread!!!

I finally got my fish tank all set up and running and got my first set of fish a few days ago. I love them so much I decided to create a massive fish thread for my aquarium news To start, I have a 55gal tank with a black wood stand. It's natural themed with tan blend gravel, driftwood, begonia, geranium, duckweed, hydrophillia and lilly plants(all plastic) and a 12" airstone that makes a bubble wall.

To cycle the tank, I bought 3 giant danios who I decided to name Larry, Curly and Moe. I was going to name them after the three musketeers but when I brought them home, they were such goofballs! Moe immediately started datring through the bubbles while Larry squeezed between the glass and the filter and Curly chased himself in the mirror. Curly and Moe played tag for a bit and they all love racing. They are soooooo cute! Updates and pics to come!

....except apparently one was misnamed, because D'Artagnan showed up a few months later. And then Milady and Buckingham.

I've got 5 tanks, 5g, 10g, 29g, 40g & 75g. I just got a few more danios for my 75g. I love how they school together too.

I enjoy fish tanks, but I can never seem to keep them alive for the long haul. Check the ph balance and all that, feed them regularly, change the filter when needed, but they just like to die on me. Right now my fish tank has been empty for about a year.

I have three goldfish in a tank decorated with a gargoyle, red and black gravel, and assorted plastic plants. I had a bubble wand stretched across the back of the tank to create a bubble wall, but over time it just sort of fizzled out. I was never sure if the wand clogged or if the pump wore out. Just decided not to bother with replacing it though.

Yeah, wave your hand in front of the tank and watch them do an about face and swim the opposite direction! Cheap entertainment, more interesting and intelligent than anything on TV!

Update!!!

It turns out Moe is a girl! I opened the lid today to feed my fish and I noticed a few little black worms. Upon closer inspection I saw there were much more in the floating plants. I freaked out thinking my tank got a parasite but soon realized they were fry. I snagged them all and plopped them in the tank that once held a beta fish. It's damn near impossibe to count the things but there is about 20-25 of them.

Grats on the little fishies! I had a great guppy tank when I lived in Omaha, a few years back. I'd love to set up another tank here.
