  • My little guy had surgery

My little guy, who is 13 years old now, had to have surgery on the 9th. It is a outpatient surgery, so he came home that same day.

When he was in the recovery room, they had to come get me because he forgot where he was and he was screaming for me and kept trying to get up. He had his eyes closed when I came in the room but was still trying to get up. I didn't say a word, just touched his hand and he calmed right down. After that I spoke to him and reminded him of where he was and I was there and it would be alright now. He was no trouble after that.

Of course, I could barely breath when he was in surgery especially when it went past the time the doctor told us it would take and I was just about to find someone to tell me what was going on when they came out and got me.

The surgery was successful and the little guy enjoyed the week off of school he got out of it.

Moms had to do that to me. There's something about A loved parents touch that will quiet any kid. Specially when they are scared like that.

Glad the little man is doing well.

Aww...poor kid. I can imagine your worry as you waited for the surgery to finish. It's great that you could be there for him when he woke up and got so scared...Moms can be like magic!

I'm glad it's overwith. When I'm sick or in pain, I want my mommy, too.

Glad he's home & recovering. I hadn't seen any posts since you'd mentioned some medical issues. What a relief to know things went well.

Glad he's okay! Missing school was a definite plus for me when I had surgery as a kid, lol XD

I hope everything is good now for the future

Glad everything went ok. Because of the medicine they use for surgery often has a memory erasing effect..that can happen. People say you are not conscious, and it is true..but yet..you can feel peoples presence. So a loved one can calm a person right down.

Thank you for the good thoughts, guys. He is healing well and is back to his usual weird self. Come on, none of you really thought I have normal children did you?

He only calls me "mom" when he is sick, scared or in trouble. We call each other "dude" so we joked about what would have happened in recovery if he had been calling for "dude". He does realize that I'm not a "dude" but we find it funny.

Hehe. I call everyone dude, male or female. Granted I only call people I know 'dude'. But I've called female coworkers, my bf, and my mother 'dude'.
