Yes, that is important. Made that tragic mistake with firecrackers once. JUST once.
We lit a packet of them, and ran off, and...nothing. So I went back to see what had happened. Because I was a bit young (16) and REALLY dumb. And as I bent over to see the issue, the entire packet went off, jumping straight off the ground and right up into the front of my neck.
No serious injury, but it hurt like hell, scared the crap our of me, and left a mark that did look like one hell of a hickey for about a week...which I got endless grief for from my friends, classmates, and coworkers.
Yeah, that was the last time I checked on a "dud" firecracker without waiting about, oh, say, a day and a half.
