Without being knocked out, no way could I do it. *sigh*

That said, I don't find glasses to be such a great deal. Oh well. I'm pleased it worked for you.

You'd think that Raps, but you might surprise yourself. It is more surreal then scary. This from a person who demanded to be knocked out for them to remove an ingrown toenail. I am absolutely terrified of any type of surgery..and didn't bother me at all..well the time that everything was pitch black was a bit scary...

My sister is a huge wuss. She took two pills of Valium and she made it through. Our doctor was great. He talked through the whole thing and that helped keep my mind off of what was going on. Counted down through the procedures and it went super quick. And with them putting numbing eye drops in every step of the way, I didn't feel anything at all.

Ah, my issue is a psychosomatic reaction to anything to do with the eyes. Even talking about them sometimes makes mine water. You know that part of the eye test where they have you in a dark room and shine a light in to see your retina?

Yeah, can't even hold my eyes open for that bit. Even with my fingers.

          Started them off now...

Congrats, GreenDay!! I got my Lasik 18 months ago and I still see 20/20. I was horribly nearsighted, it was awful. Remember to take ALL of your eyedrops...there's a LOT

I usually put drops in right before I go to bed at night, even now. Usually the thick gel ones. For everyone who's on the fence, I highly highly highly recommend it. It's hard to believe I messed with contacts for so long.

I have steroid eye drops and antibiotic eye drops that go in four times a day. Then I have another one just to keep them from being dry every hour or more. The antibiotic ones actually are the best. No dry eye after using it. The steroid sucks though. I use it and a few minutes later I can taste it and it tastes like crap.

Well, your tear ducts drain into your sinuses, and your sinuses back into your throat; it's all connected.

Since you know the flavor is strong enough to hit you after you use them, why not eat/drink something flavorful that can mask/cover the taste of the eye drops?

                ^-.-^

The eye drops will make it taste bad.

It sucks but it's not like "so bad that I gag" bad. I just take it as a sign that my sinuses are clear.

Raps the entire procedure is like 5 minutes if that. longest part is setting up the machine over your eye.

I had one minor slip up at my procedure...I mentioned like 6 times I was terrified of enclosed spaces and the machine was like inches from my face...so they said they'd give me some valium....except they gave it to me like minutes before I was supposed to go under the laser....I slept REALLY well that night.

Also, they have something that keeps your eyes open, so you don't have to. One of the strange sensations is when they put some sort of liquid over your eye. Actually felt kinda good to me, good but weird.

nooooooope. Nope nope nope. Sorry, with how much Valium they had to give me for my liver biopsy and I *still* tweaked the hell out, there is no way I could ever do Lasik.

Oh god *holds my side* You had to mention a liver biopsy. Ugh..that was almost 20 years ago and I still cringe from that.

Thirty some years for me. It's the worst pain I have ever felt. No Valium or anything, just four husky nurses to hold me down and a pretty little nurse to hold my hand and stroke my cheek while the doctor took the biopsy.

Helpful hint: I have found that one of the best things to get rid of a bad taste in your mouth is a pickle, be it spear, slice, or whole. Pickles kill almost any other bad taste.

Of course, if you don't like pickles, I have no advice for you.
