So, my dear, dear friends, who have kept me sane for the past few years since my husband died, are telling me that I am once again invited back to go with them to New Orleans for Mardi Gras 2014. (This will be my 4th year travelling with them.)
We have always stayed at a motel outside the city and travelled across on the ferry.
Next year, though, my friends are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary in a big way, and they want to stay closer to the city for 2 whole weeks instead of just our usual 10 days. (It would also eliminate travel time and having to leave to catch the last ferry.)
We had been thinking of a guest house or bed and breakfast kind of arrangement, or even if someone won't be in the city around that time and has an apartment they are willing to rent out.
We had been looking at a really wonderful little place, but there was a misunderstanding. My friend, whom I love dearly, but who sometimes words things a bit odd, told them we were interested in one of the rooms, and instead of saying, "But we would take any one of the others that's available" told them, "But we will also take the other 2."
They quoted this amazing price because they thought he was booking 3 rooms.
When the mistake was realized, the price had jumped considerably, and it was just a bit more than he was willing to pay. If they had quoted that price originally, based on booking one room, we probably would have taken it, but once we had been given that really great quote, it just seemed like a huge jump.
So, does anyone have any suggestions, or know anyone with a great place that would be available next February 23 to March 8 during Mardi Gras?
