A couple of years ago, I lived above a woman with a toddler. She screamed at that kid day and night, slammed doors, and from what I could hear she would just for a variation occasionally punch or kick the walls (just FYI: I never heard any indications that she was hitting the child). One day I'd had enough and put a tape reporter on the floor to record her rant, and then took the results to the Children's Aid Society to file a complaint.

CAS told me they couldn't do much at this point but at least this was the start of a paper trail. Look at your situation the same way. Even if the police don't or can't do anything right now, it will help build a case in the (hopefully) near future. As others have said, police usually appreciate a pre-warning about a problem person before it becomes an actual crisis.

They'll have her on record as a trouble-maker.
The drug and prostitution convictions got that covered.

The landlord called me yesterday. Apparently, the mother of this woman called the landlord's office and told them that she's going to get her daughter this weekend, and bring her to some sort of clinic. It wasn't clear if it's a mental hospital or drug addiction treatment facility, but when she's done with whatever treatment she's getting, she's moving back in with the mother. This means that she's leaving the apartment, yay! The move-out inspection and key transfer are scheduled on Sunday.

If it doesn't happen, which is a possibility, considering the woman's previous unpredictable behavior, the landlord will start the formal eviction process, which can take up to a week before the police forcibly remove her.

So hopefully she'll be out by this Sunday, but if that doesn't happen, it'll just be one more week.

Glad to hear she'll be gone! And I'm crossing my fingers that her replacement is a nice, quiet person!
