    Am I right to assume this is a scam?

    Received the following text message:
    Your mobile number was selected as a winner of S2,500.000.00 on UK Mobile Lottery with Draw number 161013 email address deleted your details for claims
    Note that the use of a capital "S" instead of a dollar sign (and why wouldn't a UK mobile lottery have a prize denominated in pounds?) and the mix of commas and decimal points are taken directly from the original.

    I didn't fall off the turnip truck (it was carrots), so I know that you can't win a lottery you didn't buy a ticket for, and this was sent to a CANADIAN cell phone. This one is waving more red flags than a Communist party rally - anyone else think it's a scam?

    No that seems totally legit. Just like the phone call I once got informing me of the cruise I won in Nevada, all I had to do was give them some credit card information. No red flags at all.
    Pain and suffering are inevitable...misery is optional.

              Yeah, that's as legit as all the emails I get from wealthy, terminally-ill Nigerian widows who want to set up a charity fund in the US and would I please help them do so, in return for a percentage of the money inherited from their dead husband who was a general working for Khadafy...?

                    Totally just as legit as that Army Captain who needed my help getting some gold back from Afghanistan and when I mentioned I was at the same base she was at, suddenly she didn't need my help. Also she didn't have a legit army email address, just a fake go-army address.

                      No, that's totally legit. Just make sure you get the Indian guy from Microsoft Technical Support to fix all the errors on your computer before you send them the details.

                            Yep,that's as genuine as the email I received from my friend telling me she desperately needed money as she'd been caught up in the riots in Ukraine and left with no money or passport or any way of getting home. Which was rather startling considering not 2 minutes earlier,she'd only gone into the kitchen to get biscuits...
