  • Handy people, can you show me a how-to?

OK, so many of you know I landed a new job in customer service. It's a fairly casual office, so I could probably get away with bringing this on my (probably walking) commute: https://res.cloudinary.com/keep/imag...629c72d619.jpg

It's just that the wheels are so big and there might not be room to store it (not even sure yet if they have lockers or you put stuff at your desk or whatever). I would like a laptop case or tote with smaller wheels. I might buy one of those, but if I can use the rack that's attached to my rolling carry-on with an inexpensive bag from work that would be the more frugal option.

So my question is: can that suitcase be removed from the rack, do you think? I don't know if they're generally bolted on or screws are used. Admittedly I'm out shopping for bags right now and haven't gone home and looked at my suitcase yet. I'm just throwing this out there while I'm thinking of it. Maybe one of you knows of a youtube video or an instructable? Or maybe you know where I can get a good deal on a fairly professional looking bag.

If the carryon you're trying to extract the cart from is a roll-a-board or similar, I've got bad news - the suitcase is built around the "cart", so there's no way to extract it without ruining the suitcase.

I've seen some collapsible cart-type things you put an ordinary suitcase on - one of those would probably be a better choice.

Outside the box thinking here a little...but what about a bowling ball bag, "roller"?

      Something like this?

      Or maybe this?

I'm not sure what you're planning on putting in it, though.

      Maybe a "wheeled backpack"?

This one's kinda pricey at over $100, but you get the idea...

The larger wheels are a benefit. They roll better/smoother. The small wheels on suitcases are better suited for the airport floor than they are streets and sidewalks. The lack of a collapsing handle or folding frame may be more of a problem. It does fold flat, but it may be too tall.

If I remember correctly, the bag should come off the frame. It is designed to be cleaned.

I think that you should wait to purchase anything. You need to find out what sort of space you have to work with before you buy anything.

Yes, my existing frame is collapsable and the bag comes off. I could use it to pull a tote and my purse. But the wheels are just akward. The whole thing is akward. My alternative is leaving at 6:00 am to take 3 buses so I can get to work early enough to not be late every day. *sigh* I really need a car but can't do that right now so I thought "I'm capable of walking for an hour..." I did find this at Targhay today: http://www.target.com/p/Travel%20Sma...t/-/A-14021671 It's high enough and less bulky than what I have.
