  • Do any of you journal?

I'm thinking about doing it. I'm looking at some right now online.

If you do, do you write something daily? How do you do it? I think it might be a good thing to do. I don't know that I'll journal everything, and there may even be some things that I will "go to my grave with" (i.e. I'll never write them down), but I think it might be helpful for me.

So if you journal, what do you do?

Unless you are military, there really is no right or wrong way to do it.

What you need to ask yourself is "Why?"

Trying to preserve memories for posterity?
    Venting for therapy?
    Expanding your creative writing?
    Just because?
    All of the above?
    None of the above?

Your reason for journaling way influence how or what you write. Or it may not.

And for the record, I do not journal.

Most of those. It's really going to depend on the situation.

That said, I'm mainly probably just going to date the entry, and then write the entry. No "Dear Journal" or anything like that. Just going to date the entries and write them.

So I bought a nice notebook and started journaling in it. I know I'm not going to document everything and I'm not going to write in it every day. I have two entries so far. The first one was lengthy, the second was shorter. Not sure when I'll write in it next, but hopefully this will be a good experience for me, and help me with some stuff. I'm going to be writing the good, bad, and ugly, but I'm not going to write everything in it. To paraphrase part of my first entry, some stuff I will probably take to my grave.
