  • Poor Cat

My my I've been coming more social here. Maybe one day I'll be able to talk to strangers and hold a conversation ^^.

Ok on the subject. Well obviously its about my cat Cloey. Who was once a nice cat now kinda mean.

Before the move 2 years ago, she used to be a very affectionate cat. But when the move happened, (Where I left to go to VA and they moved to a town house) it affected her to the point she became borderline feral. She' gotten a little better over the years but still.

I can't pet her for very long let alone pick her up to cuddle her. I let off as soon as she starts to swat and bite.

I remember when mom told over phone once when she took Cloey to the humane society to get fixed, they had to sedate her. A LOT. Since she put up such a huge fight.

Is there a way to bring her back to the way she was? (I know it'll be a slow process) If I give her up to the humane society she will be put to sleep. I still love her, no matter how much she bites the crap out of me.

Cats, just like Humans, can change. She just might generally not like being touched. The only real way to give her any sort of /change/ is to let her be her. Thelma, (my cat) is the same way. She just hates being held. She'll claw your shirt or pants, (Never your skin though, she's good at that), meow, growl, etc.

But she will come and lay on you.

So, just let the cat be her. Play with her with a laser light. Toss paper balls. Let her come to you. (And she'll likely will).

But if you keep picking her up or holding her against her will, she'll just hate it more and more and more.

It could also be medical. Get Kitty to a vet and make sure they know about the change in behavior. My (now deceased) tabby went from mellow to hostile. The vet did a blood test and found that he had thyroid problems--a daily pill and he was back to his charming self within days.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

When I was given a cat it had major issues. I took him to the vet after he broke his legs jumping out a second story window. I mentioned to vet that Spot was being a little terror and that previous to being abandoned to my care he had been a sweet loving cat who adored me. The vet prescribed prozac along with the pain pills for his broken legs. Spot had depression. After a while they were able to discontinue the meds but he changed back to the loving cat I had always know.
He recovered from both his anger about being abandoned and his broken legs and I had him for 8 years.
