  • You been there, done that?

I love the semi anonymity of the internet sometimes

My boyfriend would like me to have a little less hair "down there" but after doing my own "trimming" when I was a teen, I'm a little apprehensive as to what the grow back will be like. Last time it was rather uncomfortable, can't really remember how it was uncomfortable, it was a wee while ago.

So, I was thinking going for the whole whack waxed (brazilian at my local beautician who does my legs) if I do. Is there something else I could try/do? I'll let your dirty minds figure out why.

Why do I still work there again?

    I shave!

First, make sure you clean up very well. From there, you can use several methods. Personally, I use a razor. So far the only problem I've had with it is the fuzz growing back. It itches but that's normal. Just make sure you have a razor that is at least 3 blades and MUST have those little wires going across the blade. It really cuts back on the razor burn and the little cuts.

Used to, I would use Veet. It gave me a clean "shave" and the fuzz growing back wouldn't itch so much. But the hair is so thick, it would take several minutes longer than the longest suggested time. Also, on the container it says not to use near... um... sensitive areas. Also, if you leave Veet on your nails long enough it'll get... scary. Makes them soft and they flake and it's just not pretty. Takes a couple months for your nails to get back to normal too.

I used to shave, but my current bf prefers closely trimmed (he hates the stubble). Honestly, I prefer that, too. Shave bumps and ingrown hairs are NOT fun.

        I despise shaving.

My hair and nails grow very quickly, so if I'm clean-shaven at 7am, I'm starting to itch and get uncomfortable by 10. Not a fun way to spend the day.

Trimming, on the other hand, is so much nicer, in my opinion.

i use this stuff and one of these with this kind of blade. i use the dude's blade because it has a single blade on the edge to do shaping. it's a pretty good combination. i put lotion on after and i rarely itch. keep the blades fresh and the area properly lubed while shaving and you shouldn't have too much irritation.
also, if you keep up with the routine, shaving twice or three times a week, any itch you do experience will fade. your skin will get used to it.

The few times I've shaved I've found a mirror to be very helpful.

Although now, I prefer to just let DH trim it for me!

Oh, and always, always, always use shaving cream. Don't cheap out and use soap. Just. Don't.

In my experience it's totally worthwhile, my BF and I both enjoy my lack of hair.

Personally I shave, but it's for lack of being able to afford waxing.

i don't think i could wax my lady bits...i used to wax my legs and even that's too much for me. so lady bits? nuh-uh. i'd rather deal with shaving every other day than have every hair pulled out.
'sides...i find it oddly therapeutic to shave. it's so methodical and almost rhythmic.

That's the way I feel every time I shave my legs. Bad day? Rough day? Just take a hot shower and shave the legs! It takes consentration (I have fine hair on my legs to begin with) so I can just block out all my problems for a short while.

so i'm not the only one that thinks that...welp, that makes me feel better. The Boy once questioned why i took so long shaving. i poked the spot on his chin he missed and told him "that's why." running my hands over my legs to make sure i didn't miss a spot (and checking for leg cancer of course) is one of my favorite parts
