    This pretty much goes for everything related to exercise/martial arts. No one goes into a gym for the first time absolutely ripped.

      I take mixed arts, and I can tell you Ju-Jitsu is a really strong art, as long as you don't have a desire to use brute strength. It's completely a controlling art and very gentle, so your body doesn't have to be amazingly sculpted either.

      I recommend you take it, but just to be safe have your GF teach you basic Kickboxing for when you're too inexperienced to use Ju-Jitsu's graceful technique in a dire situation.
