  • Speech advice please

I was asked to do an introduction for a speaker at a church activity. I have no problem with public speaking and accepted at once. Then I realized that I have never done an introduction, it somehow was never addressed in my speech classes and I have no clue how to go about preparing one.

Luckily it's short--only a minute or so but what do you say? What kind of things do people want to hear about a speaker?

Help! (Also, this is a more formal church event--more church-y than fun & games).
My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.---Cary Grant

Why they're speaking there, their accomplishments, if its a church thing, maybe some family life type stuff?

If you can, ask the person that you're introducing what they would like for you to say. Otherwise, as Whiskey said, say who they are, where they're from, why they have been invited to speak, etc.
