  • CafePress.com Shop?

I have come up with the idea of a shirt, and I was thinking of just ordering one shirt for Child Rum. However, I noticed on the CafePress.com website that I could open a free shop where I could sell the t-shirt with the design on it.

Has anyone opened a shop on CafePress.com? If so, how was your experience(s)? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

    Just wondering.

    Thanks!

I've opened up a couple. It's easy. Although, I have mine set so that I don't earn anything from them, mostly because I just didnt' want to fool w/ that.

OoO ... didn't know you could do that. CafePress does all the mailing out of product though, right? (I know ... stupid question, but if I didn't ask, I wouldn't know. )

I'm thinking of putting up 2 shops (1 for each t-shirt I've designed) and then just directing a few friends to the sites in case they're interested in buying the shirts.

If I had a one-off design, I'd look into what it takes (and what one gets) for putting a shirt up at Shirt Woot.

I've got a couple of shirts from them and plan to get a couple more. Too Much Catnip is way too adorable to resist.

Yeah, the product is shipped by Cafe Press. The only involvement you have is the design of the product and the set up of the shop. You can have like 8 or 10 items (can't remember exact # off the top of my head) in a shop, so you don't have to set up one for each item.

Thanks! I'm thinking of adding buttons and maybe something else. Right now, I just have 2 different t-shirt sayings.

Haven't made it public yet, and not sure if I'd want to make a profit off of the stuff I designed. Though if I did make the shop public, I might do like a 5% upcharge (which would basically be about $0.40-$1.20 extra for me).

Yeah, I have one for my online fiction site. I don't have a ton of items, and I only have basic membership. That kind of limits what I offer, but I can do custom items for folks if they request it, so that's pretty cool.

They handle all the shipping and whatnot. I ran a contest once for free stuff of their choice from the store. The winner wanted a custom piece, so I made that up and had it sent to her. It was painless and she got it no problem. And she lives in a different country than I do, too. I was worried about that, but it was not an issue.

I only offer tote bags, coffee cups, and water bottles at this time, and at least on those items I can vouch for the quality. If you follow the image guidelines for submitting artwork, I'd say the quality is better than expected. I ordered a few things for myself to check the quality before I opened the store, and I was impressed.

The drawback: their interface sucks. It's hard to navigate their site, and I would say I am no novice to doing stuff like this online. On the other hand, if you need help, they are good about helping you learn the ropes.
