  • HELP! - What do I do with cut hair

Yesterday I shaved my head for charity. (and raised A$1000 for them in the process)

I saved the hair, but dont know what to do with it?????

I dont want to throw it out as I am not comfortable with the thought of someone getting the hands on it. I cant donate to the wig makers as it's not long enough (they require a min of 12 inchs, mine was about 6)

I am thinking about burning it, but am concerned that it bad luck to do so.

I am going to keep a small amount as a momento though.

Any thoughts or ideas as to what I can do?

    Thanks

Cut it up a little more and chuck it in the compost bin if you have one. That's what I do with my husband's hair when I shave his head (He prefers a buzzcut due to working in a hot warehouse/shed). Apparently it helps with drainage and is also a good source of nitrogen.

          Um... WHY?????

I've been throwing out my hair and my daughter's every time I cut it for years. As far as I know, no one's ever gone pawing through our garbage to get at our discarded HAIR.

I know of a few religions that believe in disposing of hair in certain ways, as they believe if someone gets a hold of a big chunk of your hair, they can influence your life in some way or cast a spell.

Not everyone is comfortable with just throwing hair away, just like not everyone is comfortable using a public bathroom. I like the composting idea....

Composting worms will eat hair. Again, it's easier for them if you cut it up.

Tollbaby = It's an old supastision. Hair can be used in certain magics to influence or harm a person. I dont like the thought of somone getting their hands of a lot of my hair.

My Stepmother actually came up with a great idea. I bought a build-a-bear kit at the local craft shop and used the hair to stuff it. Now I get to keep it

Locks of Love takes any length, it's just 10 inches minimum for them to use for hairpieces. If you send smaller lengths, they process it and sell it for money to help with their production costs. I've donated smaller lengths before, since I'm big on donating but I don't always let my hair get long enough to cut off 10 inches of it.

That's both clever and creepy all at once.

                    There's a bear with hair....
                    And the chair as well....

Sorry, I've never believed in superstitions of any kind. I'm always a bit awe-struck when I come across someone who does. In my head, it's kind of like coming across someone who firmly believes the Earth is flat. I'll shut up now.

(It's not because I'm trying to make fun of you or belittle what you believe.... I just often come across situations that I literally can't wrap my mind around, and the result is the above incredulity. I am the queen of "foot in mouth". Just ignore me.)
