  • Lawn Service

Ok this is probably silly thing to put in Life Advice, but it was the only place I could think of.

How does one pick out a lawn service. They hubby and I just can't keep up with the lawn anymore. I swear our lawn is bigger then our house. Plus the pollen is putting me down for the count this year.

What should I ask? I am very new at this

    Thanks for the help

My dad runs his own lawn mowing business, so I might have a few ideas for you. First, what exactly are you looking for? Are you looking for some one who just mows and does basic trimming or are you looking for someone to spread chemicals? Also are you looking for someone to do this on a regular basis say every Tuesday? Some companies mow no matter if your lawn needs mowed or not. I would suggest someone who sends a bill not someone who requires payment immediately because then you might be stuck waiting until they get there.

Another thing to think about is how long you want your grass to be. My dad has a tendency to leave it longer so it looks better, but he has a couple of customers that want it shorter. Make sure that whoever you pick is willing to change the height of the blade if you want to.

Ask around too. You may be able to find a better lawn guy buy asking around then if you look in the phone book. You could also call local companies that spray chemicals. Sometime they mow lawns or have a list of people that mow.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of most of that stuff. I just want someone mow it about once a month. And maybe fight with the blackberries.

I will work on a list of stuff we would like done before I start looking for someone.
