  • Bowel Issues, you've been warned

as the tittle says you've been warned, this is possibly gross or tmi, but embarrassing for me to type about to an extent.

To set things clear, i already know I need to go to a dr. currently busting my behind to get a job to save money to be able to pay to see dr. etc. this is a question of what can I do to alleviate or ease the problems until I can GET to the dr.

Ever since the c-section I've had issues with gas, bowel movements and what not. Its been a year and 19 months since then things have for the most part gone back to some form or normality only i am more flatulent. such is life, beano is my friend as well as pepto and gas-x on occasion. (and no they don't smell like rainbows or cinnamon buns, damn )

whats been bothering me is that in the last week alone, within ten minutes of finishing a meal I can FEEL the bowel movements of the lower intestines. or what I believe is such and i say lower because its in the lower region above the uterus area.

I do have a sensitivity or am intolerant of dairy/lactaid. Have been easing it out of my diet to the point that I am down to butter and ranch and the occasional hard cheeses like parmesean. last three days I have been having bathroom issues not unlike what happens if i have a glass of whole milk, a shake, ice cream or what not and did not take the lactaid pills in the first bite. IE the runs, diarrhea. But the most I had was some butter on the toast of my sandwhich friday and ranch dipping sauce with the chicken nuggets on sunday. WTF
and for the most part i am stressed but not enough to cause more digestive issues. (death of a friend, slight change in amount of food)
basically tried to take in all the possibilities that could be causing this upset, such as change in food, diet, the way food is prepared, extra stress and so on. not so much. no medicines that could have caused such,
I have changed slightly how much I eat, which is less, and the times I eat which is now breakfast, sometimes late lunch but dinner is always between 6pm and 7pm or if failing 8pm to 9pm after daughter is put to bed.

nothing overly acidic, have been eating more tomatos, but not every day, i use mild spices and no more than two seasonings per item. ie i don't salt and pepper my food to death just enough that i can taste it. no spicey aka cajun seasonings either.

SO WHY are my intestines doing this? its frustrating, because sometimes it hurts and i haven't done anything in the last 12 hours or even 6 to cause that kind of pain. not even my scar tissue gives me this kind of pain.

I know I'm not even anywhere CLOSE to knowing about gastrointestinal issues. I get flatulence from broccoli, and that's plain average. Other people may know more around here *hey nurse people* but, tbh, I don't know of anyone on this site who's got poo issues :P

thank you. sorry this is very awkward for me.
its not so much the poo itself its that until now i couldn't feel it...or it didn't hurt internally to have it pass.

I've been having some gastrointestinal issues, not the same, but I wonder if you could have something like IBS (my symptoms all point to that; I have an appointment with a GI specialist but couldn't get in for a solid month!). IBS is super common, especially with women. I believe that it can usually be eased by diet changes but I might be wrong.

Research IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and also follow up on things that are like IBS - the IBS pages will have references to those.

My friend who has lactose intolerance ALSO has intolerance to many other sugars, including fructose and the sugars that are commonly associated with gluten (she aims for gluten-free foods and that helps her). So that's another possible avenue for you.

Finally, I recommend exercising your pelvic floor muscles. I know you said a c-section, so it's not a vaginal-childbirth 'looseness', but strong pelvic floor muscles help hold everything in that region in their proper places.

Also strengthen your corset muscles: belly and back and sides. Everything between the ribcage and the pelvis. Grab a basic book on bellydance from the library, or find a website. Learn the movements that swing and roll the hips, and that move the ribcage. Practice those often.
Again, this will help hold your innards properly in place.
          Seshat's self-help guide:
          1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
          2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
          3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
          4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.
