  • Blonde On Black

That probably sounds like the title of a porno.

Has anyone here ever had their hair blonde and black at the same time? Or done another form of two opposite hair colors?

I love to do a two-tone with my hair. I've always tended to keep the upper layers my natural color (ash blonde) or maybe a shade or lighter, and the bottom a very dark brown or red, or my favorite, purple.

Lately, I've been wanting to do the under-part black. So my hair would be half blonde, half black.

Only problem is, one, I can't afford it for a few weeks, so I have time to think. But two.....I'm half Ginger (except instead of red, I'm blonde), half vampire. As in, I am one of the fairest skinned (and featured) person I know, besides having darker colored eyes, I'm pretty Nordic looking.

I see a lot of girls nowdays put black in their hair regardless of their skin tones or features, and it seems to be alright as long as they don't put too much black in their hair.

Another thing is the girls I do see with blonde/black, is that their blonde is bleached, or colored very light blonde. Mine is more of a natural looking blonde, so I'm worried it wouldn't look the same with a more natural ash blonde and black mix.

    What do you guys think?

I think it could work, especially if you're just doing the bottom layers. Maybe talk to a stylist?

I had my hair trimmed today at the college. I couldn't afford both, so I picked a trim, because I have to get a trim once a month.

She said that trend seems to work well on everyone, as long as you don't have more black than the lighter color.

But she also advised that if I want black, I have to make sure I want it black, because black doesn't fade or wash out like other colors.

But one of the reasons I picked black is because I have had black hair before (looked AWFUL but it was when I refused to ever go outdoors and I dyed my whole head. Nowadays my skin is a few shades darker) and I know that it doesn't fade like reds and browns do.

Couple of years ago i got a haircut and dyed my whole head black, and was completely lazy with the upkeep (I'm a natural blonde too) and grew in a skunk strip that eventually grew out to the point where the tips were black and the rest of my hair was blonde. Again, that was the Looooong and lazy route, but I see no problems with dyeing the undersides black. Hell, I just dyed my hair a nice deep red and if I had the money I would love to do a two tone thing with my hair.

You know I've seen your picture, so you should've asked me first. I think you could get away with it, but your blonde is slightly golden, so instead of stark black, do a dark, slightly warm brown (think deep espresso).

I've had the underpart black and rest blonde before. I absolutely loved it! The only thing is that if you are going with black be absolutely sure it's what you want..because the black takes forever (or what seems like forever) growing out.
