  • I could use a little help.

Hello. I could use a little help. You see, the contract on my first book ended, and so I've spent the last couple of weeks revising it. I've streamlined the plot and cut just under seventy pages that I didn't need out. I've also managed to add in elements that I should have put in at the beginning.

But I've discovered that no writer can truly trust their own work when editing anymore. Despite all I'm learning, I still need a second pair of eyes.

My point is, I cannot pay, but would someone be willing to be my novel's proofreader? Just a proofreader, nothing more. I have asked in several other places, and no one is interested.

If this thread is in the wrong place, I apologize.

Kristev, you don't know me, but I'd be happy to proofread your book. I used to work in the English Writing Center at college and am pretty good at that sort of thing.

How quickly do you need this done? I could do it depending on the length, but I have my own work as well so it may be a while if it's a long novel.

If you want a content editor I couldn't do it (just don't have the time) but if you just want proofreading/line edits I can handle that,

Do you need editing as well, or just proofreading? I'd be happy to do an edit and make suggestions if that would help - I'm ok on proofreading but I'm not an expert, but I like editing

The honest truth is I could probably use all the help I can get. So if someone's willing to edit it, that would be great.

The problem I have is that I can't pay.

As for the book itself, it's only three hundred and four pages.

I wouldn't mind editing either. Little busy right now but if you're not on a major time crunch...

Proofing for spelling, grammar, such? Send me, ok?

I'd be in for proofreading and editing for grammar and spelling, but if you can find someone to edit it for content as well, go with them, as I really couldn't devote THAT much time to it. (The grammar and spelling come naturally to me, but it would take me longer to edit for content, and I wouldn't know if I was sticking to your style or injecting my own.)

I've got nothing but time so I can do it. Just depends on what it's about. Certain subjects just don't work for me at all.

Be happy to do it. I have two weeks until school starts, and am a grammar nazi according to friends.
