Hi I co-own a small award/embroidery business. I encounter idiot customers on a daily basis. I'm usually thought to be just "the help" if they haven't been in the store before. To illustrate this, recently my best friend came to visit me at the store since that is where I always am. We were out front talking when a customer came in and went straight up to him and started asking him to order something. I'm standing next to him wearing a shirt that has my store name on the front & back. He said to the customer "I can't help you, I don't know what you're talking about. she's the..." To which the customer started yelling "Aren't you the owner? What are you doing here if you aren't? I need to get my son a trophy! If you don't know anything, why are you here?" and out the door she went.
She never gave either one of us a word in edgewise to tell her I could help her. That was one of the nicer ones.
