  • Not only do I work there, I own the place too

Hi I co-own a small award/embroidery business. I encounter idiot customers on a daily basis. I'm usually thought to be just "the help" if they haven't been in the store before. To illustrate this, recently my best friend came to visit me at the store since that is where I always am. We were out front talking when a customer came in and went straight up to him and started asking him to order something. I'm standing next to him wearing a shirt that has my store name on the front & back. He said to the customer "I can't help you, I don't know what you're talking about. she's the..." To which the customer started yelling "Aren't you the owner? What are you doing here if you aren't? I need to get my son a trophy! If you don't know anything, why are you here?" and out the door she went. She never gave either one of us a word in edgewise to tell her I could help her. That was one of the nicer ones.

    Hi Wooty! Welcome to

I'll bet you have some great stories that we can all look forward to hearing. Surely it's great to be the owner - with no managers to report to, you get to decide what to do with SCs. (Although... you did say co-owner )

"I'm a fellow customer. Yes, we do exist."

      Look forward to your stories!

Did she think the store exists soley for her benefit? There's a new level of entitlement, there...no one else is even allowed in the store!!
