Hello everyone! I've been reading the site for a few days and I don't think I noticed any bank tellers' stories yet. I imagine I probably have many horror stories to share .
Mmm - we've got a person or three who work in a casino, but I have to admit I don't remember anyone who's posted about their work in a bank. Keep yourself safe through obfuscating the facts to keep up with the privacy laws and you should do fine
I worked in a bank in the very early 80s. I haven't posted much about it recently, but I think my former boss, "Chuckles," stars in a fairly recent post I made in the "Morons in Management" forum.
Phrases that pop into mind from that job are:
"Just because I dropped below the minimum for one day, I have to pay the same account fee as poor people?"
"What do you meeeeaaan you're off line!"
"I know I have enough in there to cover my purchase! What's my balance?...What do you mean you can't tell me over the phone?...Of course I'm me!"
"I come in here all the time. I'm not going to show you any ID! Chuckles knows me."
"I can't withdraw $2000 at the drive-through? Well, I can't come in. I'm in my pajamas!"
"You can't be closed! I need to pay my mortgage and it's due today!"
"Ohmigod! Why do you have to count it all! I told you I was depositing 759.93; can't you just take my word for it? I'm in a hurry!"
The best karma is letting a jerk bash himself senseless on the wall of your polite indifference.
Oh lord, they've gotten much worse nowadays! With the invention of the cell phone and debit card, no one has any idea why they're overdrawn but they want you to tell them while they have a conversation with someone else. Also the fee to cash a check if you don't have an account is extremely popular! *sigh*
