  • Hello everyone!

Hi, I have been reading here for a couple of years now, ever since a customer gave me the website name while I was working at a drugstore that is on every corner, you know, the place with the walls of green? I love hearing your stories because I know I am not alone in this craziness of EW's and SC's. I now work at home making pageant dresses and casual wears for people. My daughter does pageants and I make all her outfits. She started winning best dressed, people would ask me the name of the designer, and it went from there. She is 3 and wakes up every morning asking if it is a pageant day, lol. I don't push her so no I am not living through her, I don't feel bad for letting someone judge my child, and no we do not do the fake glitz like on Toddlers and Tiaras. And yes I would get on stage and do it myself, I have entered several of the ones that offer the mommy category, lol. Just had to get that out of the way because ever since Little Miss Perfect and Toddlers and Tiaras starting airing you mention pageants and some people look at you like you said you tie your child to a tree and leave them in the woods at night as bear bait.

So anyway, I get off track alot, darn ADHD. I make pageant clothes now and WOW the crazies I come across is unreal. I think pageant moms are the worst people I have ever dealt with in all my years of retail. And that says a lot. Anyway, finally decided to register and maybe I can share some stories of my past horrible customers and my recent EW customers. At least working for myself I can turn the crazies away and not have to be nice

    Welcome to CS.com.

I'd love to hear some of the stories about the pushy stage moms.

I know some people who prefer to let their kid's natural beauty shine if they do pageants. Glad to hear thatyou're one of them

We have let her do glitz a couple of times just for the fun of it. She absolutely LOVES the makeup and big hair but I didn't like seeing my baby like that. She looked older then me! And the way the moms acted was horrifying. At natural pageants there are still some pushy moms, mainly the glitz moms that are letting their daughter do a natural for "practice" but nothing like glitz. The moms calling the other little babies horrible names while they were on stage, little girls crying because they wanted to play but mommy wouldn't let them in their 2000 dollar dress, moms jerking kids around and yelling at them because they did not do "good enough" I don't care if my daughter places dead last, which she has on her little red head diva days, we still high five and say how great she did for even getting up there at all. The way I see it pageants are a hobby for kids and if they have fun that is all that matters. Don't get me wrong, some of those glitz girls absolutely love it and rock the stage but the parents are nuts, lol.

Reminds me of a Golden Girls episode. Blanche was forcing her granddaughter to be in a pagent, ignoring the girl's requests to go to the zoo and other fun things. Blanche was mortified to meet a mother who forced her daughter to do a dance, while holding four dangerous, lit fire sources. Naturally, the girl was scared but dared not tell anyone, except Blanche & Rose. Blanche could not believe this, and asked to Rose (anohter of the Golden Girls who had gone with Blanche and her granddaughter) "What could be worse than having a mother like that?"

Rose's counter: "Having a grandmother like that."

That's when Blanche began to realize her granddaughter was not interested in this pageant at all, and it didn't take long for the girl to freeze up on the stage. So Blanche stormed the stage, did the song, and later tried to apologize to her granddaughter. After that, she started letting her granddaughter have a better time.
