Okay, you have Seraph's truly epic thread to thank for me finally registering.
I'm currently employed in Chicago as a freelance costumer for professional theater (no Halloween or cosplay, sorry). After grad school I worked as a first hand at a theater in Indianapolis for 5 years. My sixth year I was draper, but our new shop manager was such a jerk that I decided to come back to Chicago and look for other work. Knock on wood I've been consistently employed since then.
I did do time in the retail trenches as a utility clerk, cashier and pricing clerk at a grocery store. I've also done sales (badly) at a chocolate store and worked the backroom in the shoe department at the Big Red Star.
I may end up back in retail to pay the bills at some point, but until then, I'll try to remember some stories from long ago, or rat out some bad customers I come across while shopping.
As far as me, it's just me and my two cats (and my parents two cats
) back in my old bedroom at my parents house. My mom keeps telling me it's ok if I find my own place, but they're in their 80s; it's been comforting to be here to help them out.
I'm a pretty classic nerd; reading, sci-fi fantasy, cats, sewing, history, science and sarcasm all have a place in my life. Plus the joys of several ongoing mostly minor medical problems. And my 40s threatening to add a couple more.
So that's me. Nice to meet you
