I'm currently in school for my Bachelor of Education and I'm about halfway through my second teaching placement. Right now I am working in a grade one classroom, and the kids will often say the most hilarious things...
One of the things we do every morning with the kids is guided reading. In small groups (not more than five usually) the kids meet up with a teacher to work on their reading skills and get more individual feedback. It's pretty awesome.
With my kids, we were reading an Anansi story. (Anansi is a trickster spirit, so the stories are usually pretty fun and engaging for the kids). We've also been working on chunking up hard works to sound them out, so the kids break them up into smaller sounds.
'Anansi' is a hard word for kids to figure out. Yesterday, a kid figured it was 'Anus'.
Definately hard to keep a straight face.
