  • But what IS it?

We're running a promotion right now where you get a room for $1XX and it comes with a $25 resort credit. I have had literally dozens of iterations of the following:

    *phone rings*
Guest: "Yeah, I just heard your ad on the radio that said you had a special rate with rooms for $1XX that come with a $25 resort credit. So, like, what is that deal?"
Me: *thinking* It's a room for $1XX with a $25 resort credit; what you just said....

There must be something in the water.

People think I'm joking when I tell them that I've had customers ask me, "How much is that ten dollar ad?"

    It's TEN. DOLLARS. IDIOT!

I'm guessing a Resort Credit is... a credit towards the Resort Fee.

I have no idea what a Resort Fee is. I was just looking at hotels in Vegas and saw it listed on some along with the room price.

I'm guessing it's yet another tax or the result of a tax passed on to consumers.

I am assuming it`s $25 towards something the resort offers - spa, lift tickets (if a skiing resort), etc.
No... Just No! And I mean it this time!

Yep, that's it. It's a credit that you can spend!

It's a way to suck more money out of you. Our resort fee covers parking, WiFi, phones, and use of the fitness center. It's not built into the room rate because....it's a way to suck more money out of you. Honestly that's about it. I ain't gonna sugarcoat it.

The one thing I learned from my years of weekly trips to Vegas is that there is no rhyme or reason to what some of them charge. Some thought that they were a way to pay for the cheap room rate, but the worst I ever paid was at the Bellagio. I was shocked at the extra fees they were charging. $25 resort fee, $20 Wifi, $15 fitness center, $10 phones (local calls only) and others on top of $300 a night for the room itself. Stayed there once and went back to one of the many other places that were just as nice but charged much less.

Can't blame someone for thinking there is a catch somewhere. I'd certainly think there was one.
I'd tell you where to go, but I work there and I don't want to see you everyday.
