  • Jay the Pirate

I'm still laughing over this one. A co-worker was explaining to a customer on the phone how to send us a photo for his ad.

CW: You need to send it in jpeg.
Customer: Who? Jay Peg? J-A-Y Peg?

It took several tries to get it through his head that it wasn't a person. Somehow I suspect we won't be getting that photo.

After she hung up we decided "Jay Peg" was a peg-leg pirate, and yeah...it went sillier from there.

And he also downloads movies, music, and games via the BitParrot protocol. I hear bandwidth is great, but throughput is terrible as it takes the poor parrots forever to fly back and forth laden with flash drives.

Actually, BitParrot should be quite fast. Within the past month (forgot where, though), I read about a situation where someone was able to transfer photos FASTER by carrier pigeons with micro-SD cards than by data over the cellular network. Pretty much an updated version of the old IT saying "Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of backup tapes".

I can neither confirm nor deny whether or not I am, in fact, a pirate.

I had a piece of paper with "J. Peg" written on it taped over my name on my name badge last Friday.

            Nobody noticed.
