A week ago Thursday, I had my hair done. When I was done and went to pay, my debit card was not in it's normal slot in my wallet. Searched through my wallet and emptied my purse and it was nowhere to be found. Wrote a check to pay for my haircut and went out and emptied my purse again. Still no card. I realized that the last time I used the card was at Subway, so headed there to check. No card. So I went on to the bank and had it cancelled and had the teller check my account activity. So far, so good - no unauthorized charges. So they ordered me a new card and cancelled the old one. The new card came on Thursday. I activated it and went out to run errands today. Went to a small shop here in my town to purchase a birthday gift for a friend and opened my wallet to take out the new debit card to pay for the gift and what did I find lurking behind another card in the next slot down? Bingo - the missing debit card. I feel so stupid. I went through my wallet no less than 10 times and did not see it hiding behind the other card. Spent a week going to the bank to get cash or writing checks (and I absolutely hate to write checks in stores anymore). My daughter ever gave me a hard time because I have scolded her more than once for losing credit cards. I think it will take a long time to live this one down with my family...
