  • February what?????

I had a brain burp Thursday. As I've told, I work as a receptionist in a doctor's office. It's really busy since we have 2 doctors, a lab and several of our patients come in just for nurse visits (allergy injections, other misc. injections, etc.). That being said, many days I don't know that date until I look at the calendar. Most all kids that are seen require a doctors' statement for returning to school or their parents will need the same note showing why they missed work taking little Jr. to the doc. Our notes basically say, "Jr. was seen in this office and has been under my care from xx-xx-xx to xx-xx-xx and may return to school on xx-xx-xx." Thursday, I wrote, "Jr was seen today (the correct date listed) and may return on Monday, February 30". It dawned on my about 3 hours later what I'd written.

Mommy, the doctor sedzed that I don't have to go back to school until February 30, and when it's on a Monday, so I'm staying home. So there!

Yeah, I'm just waiting for one of the schools to call and ask about it. The schools in that county are much more strict about absences than where I live (next county over). Here, if my kids are sick, I simply send a 'parent note' and the day is excused. A doc's statement is wonderful, but not required. However, in the county where I work, a parent note can be placed on the child's file, but isn't sufficient to make the absence an excused one. A total of 6 unexcused absences nets the parents a day in court. I suppose they are more strict due to the lazy parents that think it's ok to just let Jr. stay home, just 'cawz.
