  • M-O-O-N, that spells good...

Hi all, I'm a long time lurker who never thought I'd actually have anything to post, but I have to share this phone call I just got.

Some background, I'm an accountant working for a private CPA. I have several clients that I deal with personally, and I get along very well with all of them. The only time I really have to deal with 'customers' is during tax time when we get a lot of walk-ins and phone calls.

Which leads me to this call.......

Me: Company name, how may I help you?
    Caller: Do you do taxes?
Me: Yes ma'am, would you like to make an appointment?
Caller: How do you spell midnight?
    Me: ??? spells midnight
Caller: Thank you, I was in an accident last week and can't remember a lot of things.

Me: <wondering if she should be attempting to do her taxes right now???> Oh, I'm sorry, I hope that gets better for you.

Caller: How do you spell moon?
Me: <and that has what to do with this conversation?> spells moon.
    Caller: Thank you. Click.

    Huh?

    Hahah, I love that movie.

    M-o-o-n, that spells Tom Cullen.

Very strange, though, maybe they were calling a random number to ask how to spell things.

I think your caller summed it up quite nicely - a clear case of dain bramage.

Yay! I JUST finished watching The Stand for the first time last night, so I got really excited when I saw this thread. Because I get the reference now, lulz

And I do hope you told her "M-O-O-N, that spells moon!"

One of my top ten favorite King books.

...although I have to say I wasn't all that impressed with the film adaptation (mostly because of Flagg's mullet).

Are you kidding? I thought that mullet was the scariest thing I ever saw! When he changed into his devil face I found it to be much less frightening...

What? She didn't specify what language to spell it in
