  • And I thought *I* was bad at the mathy stuff...

Yesterday when I was cashiering I told a woman her total and she started pulling out bills. Then she handed me a ten and four ones and asked, "How much is that? It's complicated."

That's when you advise them to pay with a credit card. No math there, all you have to do is sign the pad, and remind them they'll get cashback or points. If your company offers credit cards to people and they seem interested, try to get them to sign up.

I have found myself unable to count money at a cash register.

It doesn't always happen, but it has happened before. Change mostly. Bills are easier.

Fortunately, I'm pretty good at ballpark figures.

You hand a dyscalculic a handful of change and tell them they have a time constraint, and the money bet is that they won't be able to count it.
